VMware Horizon Deployments This document describes how to deploy Acrobat products on a VMware Horizon server for streaming to Windows machines via VDI (desktop virtualized deployments). Only desktop streaming with the application hosted on a server is supported. Adobe has certified the following:. Virtual machine-based desktop deployments using pooled virtual desktops for Windows 7 and 10. Every user has has their own separate operating system instance with Acrobat DC and Reader DC installed.
VMware Horizon Suite is a complete end-user computing solution that includes VMware Horizon View, VMware Horizon Workspace, VMware Horizon Mirage, and VMware vCenter Operations for Horizon View.
Since there are many ways to configure Acrobat products and VMware servers, these instructions are intended as basic examples. Administrators may need to tailor these instructions to meet the requirements of their environment. RE: NUD support for Persistent vs Non-Persistent VDI. Tested environments Because there is an unlimited number of possible execution environments, Adobe confines its testing to common scenarios. For VMware Horizon deployments, the environments used for testing were as follows:.
A user account was set up using Active Directory domain user group. The Anonymous User profile was not tested.
The user account was set up on the server as non-privileged accounts. The user can operate the computer and save documents, but they cannot install programs or make changes to the system files or settings. The server machine was running typical enterprise software. For example, testing scenarios often include installing the latest versions of Microsoft Office Professional, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Microsoft Visio Professional Version, Microsoft Office Publisher, Microsoft Office Project Professional, Lotus Notes, and McAfee VirusScan Enterprise.
Esx(i) 5.5 hypervisor (but any version should work). Named user deployment In additional to traditional, serialized licensing, DC products provide the option for admins to use named-user deployments and thereby leverage existing enterprise and federated IDs. The Adobe Admin Console provides a central location for managing your Adobe entitlements, including specific users and groups, across your entire organization. It also provides other tools for managing software, users, and devices and supports license management for all Adobe products.
For more information, see:.: Manage your licenses and users from the Admin Console.: Learn more about the Admin Console.: Learn about product support for Adobe IDs, Enterprise IDs, and Federated IDs. For deployment steps, see. Known Issues. Acrobat/Reader cursors appears blurred. On touch devices, zoom and scroll touch gestures do not work. The issue is a general framework issue seen for all applications like Acrobat and Reader, including Microsoft Excel.
Some shortcuts with a combination of shift+ctrl do not work in Chrome. For example, using Shift+Ctrl+T to insert a blank page in existing document does not work on Chrome for VMware Horizon 6.2. The command is intercepted by Chrome and opens the last closed tab. The same is true for Shift+ctrl+J (to cascade windows) as well. For more details, see.
Over the last couple of weeks we have received various questions on Virtual SAN licensing and Packaging for Virtual SAN 6.1. A lot of the questions were around the “ROBO” and the “Stretched Cluster” use case. We are hoping that the below table will clarify any confusion / questions you may have. Before you go on and read the table, there are a couple of things we want to explicitly call out. “Stretched Cluster” refers to the “Stretched Cluster” product workflow. Two rooms within the same building using the stretched cluster functionality requires “Virtual SAN Advanced”.
Datacenters across multiple buildings leveraging regular “fault domain” functionality does not require Advanced, but can use Standard instead!. “Virtual SAN Advanced” is included in the “Horizon Advanced” and the “Horizon Enterprise” suites, this means you get “all-flash” and “stretched cluster” functionality as part of your Horizon Advanced/Enterprise suite. You can deploy a 2-node ROBO (plus witness) configuration using Standard, Advanced or the special “Virtual SAN for ROBO” 25VM pack. It does not require the “Stretched Cluster” feature. The below table shows what the current licensing/packaging looks like for Virtual SAN 6.1.
If a new version is released with new functionality we will update this table and article accordingly. Note that in the past there was a “hybrid” and “all-flash” license, these have been renamed to “standard” and “advanced” respectively.
